I’m usually the type of person who enjoys the original version of a song more than covers, but I’m willing to make an exception in this case. Electric Light Orchestra recorded the original version of Strange Magic, but I’m super partial to a version Darren Hayes recorded a couple of years ago for the Ella Enchanted soundtrack.

If you’re into the whole fairytale princess wedding theme, this might be a great first dance song. Since that’s not so much my thing, I’m thinking it will fit in nicely during dinner or cocktail hour. :)

The only version I could find on Youtube has been layered over pictures of lips. It’s really creepy and I’m sorry. Press play and turn your monitor off and just listen. Trust me, it’s way better that way.

WOO HOO! It’s offical – I dropped the contract in the mail box this afternoon. We are offically using Tammy Martines Photography for our wedding day. Take a looky:

(both photos via her facebook page)

I became a fan of her photography when I was on my hunt 2 weeks ago – she’s got a clean style and captures traditional shots as well as more artistic shots. If you check out her website, you’ll also see that she’s refreshingly affordable! We met at her studio yesterday and had a fantastic conversation. Over that hour, I’d say about 40 minutes was business, and the other 20 was just getting to know each other and fun chit chat. I felt instantly comfortable – she’s got a fun, outgoing personality. I’m really confident she’ll put our guests at ease and get some great shots as a result.

Much like searching for our reception venue, I knew when I’d found ‘the one’. How did you know when you found the right photographer for you?

Betcha didn’t even know I was gone! That’s the magic of Wordpress my friends – scheduling. Thankfully I didn’t screw it all up this time. :D

It was a short trip away to visit some of NEPA Groom’s family. He officially asked his brother to be our best man! Yay! Here are a few nuggets of wisdom I collected from that long weekend, just for you:

  • The first indicator that you’ve hit the real South is when all the tables at Cracker Barrel have malt vinegar on them instead of ketchup.
  • Always hit the potty at each rest stop. You never know when the next potty will arrive.
  • If you’re engaged and you hold someone else’s baby, be prepared for a fire storm of photos. Your parenting skills are already being evaluated.
  • The seats in a KIA Sorento are NOT comfortable. Don’t rent one for a 10 hour drive.
  • Bring your iPod/cell phone/whatever charger.
  • Forget the GPS, it doesn’t know what it’s doing half the time.
  • After a while, put down the camera and just enjoy the time with your family. If you spend all your time documenting the trip, you’ll miss everything.
  • Dogs + beer = WIN:
