Dear readers, I’m torn. The 2009 Northeast PA Bridal Expo is taking place next Sunday. I missed the first round up in Scranton last month due to some illness, so this is my last chance to go. By this time next year we’ll all be singing The Final Countdown and the last thing I’ll want is to go look at bridal accessories that it’s too late for me to buy/make/lust over.
Here are my pros and cons on the show:
Pros
- The chance to win some free stuffs
- A bridal fashion show. I have yet to look at a single wedding dress in person
- I can check out vendors for some of the smaller things we might like, such as transportation, wedding party gifts, decoration
Cons
- There’s only one DJ there, which is the one biggie we really need
- NEPA Bride does not like a crowd. At all.
- We don’t need a baker, florist, reception venue or ceremony location.
- We don’t need crazy favors for everyone since we’ll have the candy buffet.
- It’s on Sunday. I need to be watching the football. Srsly.
So, what do you guys think? I know what way I’m leaning but I’d appreciate any more pros or cons you can add. Thanks!

With a crowd like that, if you go be sure to take an airborne.

Seems to me that, since your “con” list is longer than your “pro” list, you’re leaning towards “con.” (My college education at work!) I, however, would lean towards going, only because you might get ideas for things you hadn’t thought of before. Also: it might be good for you to talk to other brides-to-be, so you can exchange ideas with them. (Where to get a good DJ, for example.) IMHO, one day of being girlie won’t hurt you. You can even wear your Eagles jersey there.

I’m pretty transparent, aren’t I? A girl I work with used to work for the radio stations around here and she coordinated these. She actually said they only contract one DJ, one limo service, one bridal salon, and they set up the booths so tight it almost breaks fire codes. I think you make good points, but I also think I might stand in the corner being anti social and pissed off at the Wedding Industrial Complex (henceforth, WIC). Just sayin.

Your comment is kind of spooky and I’m tempted to ask “do I know you?” because half my office is sick right now and we’ve all been talking about, and taking airborne for the past 2 weeks. It’s kept me germ free so far!

Lol, hopefuly the local corner store doesn’t run out! Thanks for the advice too

I’ll go with you if you need a buddy…but if it’s not looking like it’s being benificial then you shouldnt go. but dear you may need a dress for this thing that’s in a year

Bmaid L – Yes I know I need the dress. I’ll be dragged kicking and screaming into a bridal salon, but I’ll have to do it I guess, haha. I’ll think about it and let you know in a day or so.
Also, another PRO I suppose is that it gives me more fodder for my blogging. That’s a pretty good one methinks.

“With a crowd like that, if you go be sure to take an airborne.”
Actually, Airbore has proven to be worthless: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,467865,00.html
I can’t believe that I used Fox News to prove a point. I feel dirty.
“I think you make good points, but I also think I might stand in the corner being anti social and pissed off at the Wedding Industrial Complex (henceforth, WIC). Just sayin.”
I love you, but sometimes, I wonder how you get through life.

BM E –
I dispute your article on Airborne! They don’t claim to prevent all colds any more, which is what the law suit is about. I realize if I go sit next to the sick people and breathe in all the air from their cubicle, I’m probably gonna catch something. But a little extra vitamins and minerals couldn’t hurt, right?
You know, I think now is just a bad time for me, all around. I’m not gonna get into it here, but maybe a bridal show in a few months would be more appealing. Or maybe one not run by Entercom. I’ve just heard stories, ya know?

“But a little extra vitamins and minerals couldn’t hurt, right?”
It doesn’t exactly help either. I used to take Airbore when I first started working in an office, then I would be completely bumfuzzled as to why I would get so sick. Vitamins are good to take if you don’t get enough nutrition from food (I take a daily vitamin for that very reason. There are days when I get out of work so late and I’m so tired, I eat chips for dinner.), but, the jury is out as to whether or not they help when you are sick.
Another article, because I have no life: http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/cold-guide/vitamin-c-for-common-cold
I swear, I won’t talk about this anymore. Unless I’m sick for you wedding.

I don’t know about the bridal expo but, if you want to send out some really nice bridal announcements, Invitations and thank you cards for after that you can customize with your picture on the cover or inside with your own handwriting and signature…be able to do it through your computer…send it to your whole list in as little as 60 seconds and the company prints out a physical greeting card seals it in an envelope and stamps it then mails it for you, then check out http://www.cardinthe mail.com they have a selection of over 15000 cards to choose from!
