Ugh. It’s been a long weekend friends. It’s days like these that I’m thankful to have NEPA Groom by my side. He lets me cry and act crazy and tell him I need space then get mad at him for sitting so far away all in the same breath. This song is for him.
I also have realized that I’ve gone through just about every song that I feel is special to both of us or would be something I’d really really want played at my reception already. It certainly didn’t make it the whole year until our wedding, did it? This was a fun series for me to do, but I think if I take it much further, I’ll really be stretching it and picking songs that I don’t really love, soooooo I’m closing this chapter of the blog and moving on to bigger, an infinitely more complex things - my issues with wedding dresses, finding an apartment, and not tweaking out completely as the The Knot reminds me we are now at t-minus 9 months and counting. Eeeep!
This is another really great song that I like, but it doesn’t quite fit in with our musical style. I’ve heard of a lot of brides using this Alicia Keys song as a recessional. That’s really perfect because of how passionate it is. We’ll be using more classic selections during the ceremony, probably, but maybe this will inspire someone else!
This is such a fun song! I like it for a cake cutting song, or a recessional, or even for the bridal party entering the reception. It would be great for a warm, sunny spring wedding.
As we wind down 2009, I wanted to share one of my favorite songs, and a possible contender for the First Dance. Sorry NEPA Groom if this is news to you, lol. It’s really a beautiful and emotionally raw feeling song, and I’d like to think it captures at least a little part of what makes us, us.
I love love love this song. This ranked up there as one of our songs in the early days of our relationship, even though it wasn’t quite THE song. It has to show up somewhere in reception!
This week’s choice is ABC by the Jackson 5. This is such a cute song! If we could play secular music during the ceremony, I’d want this to be the recessional!
Sort of keeping with my Baz Luhrman soundtrack theme from last week, this is the love theme from his Romeo & Juliet soundtrack (Remember? Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooo when he was young and we all thought he was so purty). This song has a beautiful and somewhat melancholy vibe to it.
I previewed the new John Mayer album on iTunes this week, and I really hate it. I’m a big fan and I couldn’t bring myself to buy it, or even be hassled with illegally downloading it. Yuck.
I am a big fan of his bluesy albums though, such as the John Mayer Trio album. Another Shade of Green is an amazing song. I feel like it’s my answer to some of the questions I’ve been getting from friends lately. Basically, yes, NEPA Groom is my friend, and I like spending time with him, along with being in love with him. And yes, I don’t really ever feel the need to wonder if this is right or what else is out there. We’re good, thanks.
Hoo boy. This one is a tear jerker. Never mind that I first heard it and fell in love with it on Roswell. It’s still an amazing song. NEPA Groom won’t mind it if our reception sounds like a Lilith Fair reunion, right?
