What’s A NEPA?

Ok, so you know I’m a NEPA bride planning my fall NEPA wedding, but unless you’re in the know, you’re probably thinking, “What the hell is a NEPA?”

Well, sit yourself down and prepare to be edumacated my friends. NEPA is an acronym for North Eastern PennsylvaniA. Pretty simple, huh? :)

In particular, I am planning my wedding in the Wilkes-Barre, PA region. We are an area with a big coal mining history. It means that there’s a lot of interesting sights to be seen around here, along with lot of woods, parks and forests. However, when the coal industry died out, it also made us a more economically depressed region of the country as well. As a result, the area continues to struggle and we’ve been hit hard by the recession. I’m lucky to continue to be employed by one of the larger technology companies in the area, though I’m still on the look out for DIY projects and wedding deals around here. Wilkes-Barre’s history also tends to mean we’re a bit behind the times on wedding trends at times! I will single handedly introduce this valley to candy buffets and ‘first look’ photography if I have to!

Despite it all, the people from this area tend to be pretty friendly and outgoing. You have to have a sense of humor if this is how you sound when you talk, right? :D
